In Fort Myers, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Florida, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 9 amโ5:30 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (239) 334-7419. Fort Myers is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Fort Myers follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The Edison & Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers turned out to be much more extensive and interesting than we expected. The site really has two distinct parts, and both are worth exploring: the museum and laboratory area on one side of the road, and the historic homes, gardens, and riverfront grounds on the other. On the museum side, we especially enjoyed how close visitors can get to many of the objects. As long as you do not touch them, there are exhibits that are not hidden behind glass, which makes the experience much more immediate. That was particularly enjoyable with the historic automobiles and the phonographs, where you can get close enough to appreciate the materials, controls, craftsmanship, and mechanical details. The early vehicles are beautiful objects in their own right. The laboratories were another highlight. Walking through the workspaces, with their long wooden tables, glassware, bottles, equipment, and overhead industrial lighting, genuinely feels as though time has stood still. Rather than looking like a modern reconstruction, the spaces give you a sense of the environment in which experimental work actually took place. Across the road, the mansion side h

We really enjoyed it. We downloaded the app and listened to it through our headphones. It's a truly beautiful estate. It's definitely something you should experience at least once.

Mr Thomas Edison and Ford would of been really proud that everything is the way they left it and up kept with the garden and everything, this is a great place to bring kids as well very educational I went when I was smaller before in a class field trip but had to go again to show my daughter the many wonderful things he did and accomplished he had lots of land that he shared with his best friend Henry Ford and itโs just so beautiful that they lived alongside each other as peaceful neighbors and friends. His real house where he resided is in New Jersey so when I go there one of these days I have got to go and explore. I highly recommend going we had lots of fun and will definitely come back again๐๐ป

I recently visited the Edison and Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers and would confidently give it four stars. If you appreciate American ingenuity, preserved history, and well-curated museum spaces, this place delivers. Walking through the winter homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford feels authentic rather than overly commercialized. The homes are not extravagant mansions, and that is part of their charm. They reflect how these men actually lived while escaping northern winters, and the preserved furnishings and laboratories provide real context to their work and lifestyle. The botanical gardens and massive banyan tree are standout features. The grounds are meticulously maintained, and the riverfront setting adds a quiet dignity to the experience. Itโs easy to spend several hours there without feeling rushed. The museum exhibits are well organized and informative, particularly the displays explaining Edisonโs research process and Fordโs industrial impact. Why not five stars? A few areas could use updating. Some interpretive signage feels dated, and during peak season the property can become crowded, which takes away from the reflective atmosphere the site deserves. If youโre nearby, itโs definitely worth a visit โ especially if youโre interested in technology and innovation. We were less focused on how the two lived, and much more fascinated by the laboratory and the exhibition showcasing their technical achievements. We really enjoyed spending the day there and found the technical exhibits especially engaging and inspiring. P.S. For Christmas, there were beautifully decorated Christmas trees everywhere โ literally around every corner. Almost a bit too many, but still very festive and charming.
